Punjab Govt Extends Basant Celebrations in Lahore

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced an extension of Basant festivities in Lahore, citing overwhelming public enthusiasm and disciplined behavior as the festival made a historic return after a 25-year gap.

According to her statement, celebrations will now continue until 5:00 am tomorrow. She described the decision as a reward for citizens who marked the occasion responsibly while complying with all officially issued safety SOPs.

Public Spirit and Safety Praised

Maryam Nawaz said the energy, unity, and joy seen across the city reflected the public’s commitment to keeping Basant safe and positive. She urged residents to continue celebrating with care, advising them to:

  • Stay away from electric wires

  • Secure rooftops properly

  • Follow all government-issued safety guidelines

She emphasized that public cooperation was key to maintaining a peaceful atmosphere and asked citizens to show the same discipline during the extended hours.
