The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially announced the player categories for the 11th edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL). According to PCB, a total of 89 local players have been placed into five different categories, with 16 players included in the prestigious Platinum category.
As per the official statement, Salman Ali Agha, Hasan Ali, Mohammad Nawaz, and Abrar Ahmed have been promoted from Diamond to Platinum category. Meanwhile, Sahibzada Farhan has made a major jump from Gold to Platinum.
Star Players Retain Platinum Status
Several top Pakistani stars have maintained their place in the Platinum category, including Fakhar Zaman, Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Rizwan, Saim Ayub, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, and Shadab Khan. Their continued presence reflects their strong performances and importance in the league.
In the Diamond category, 11 players have been selected. Mohammad Wasim Jr, Sufiyan Muqeem, and Salman Mirza were promoted from Gold due to their recent domestic and international performances.
Gold, Silver, and Emerging Categories
The Gold category includes 32 players, offering franchises a strong pool of reliable performers. Meanwhile, a total of 30 players have been placed in the Silver and Emerging categories, providing opportunities for young and developing cricketers to showcase their talent on a big stage.
Retention Policy and Auction Date
PCB has confirmed that before the auction, each franchise will be allowed to retain up to four players, with one player from each category. This policy aims to help teams maintain balance and continuity.
The historic PSL Player Auction will be held on February 11, marking a new chapter in league history. Additionally, the deadline for foreign players’ registration has been extended until February 3 to encourage wider participation.
PSL 11 Set for Competitive Season
With updated player categories and a revised retention system, PSL 11 is expected to be highly competitive. Fans are eagerly waiting to see how franchises build their squads and which players attract the highest bids at the auction.
