Government Launches ‘Roshan Pankha Roshan Pakistan’ Program

The Government of Pakistan has launched the Roshan Pankha Roshan Pakistan initiative, aimed at reducing household electricity consumption and promoting energy conservation nationwide.

According to the National Energy Conservation Authority (NEECA), households interested in participating can submit applications through the official web portal (efan.gov.pk) or via the dedicated mobile application.

Under the program, eligible applicants will receive financial assistance to replace their old ceiling fans with 5-star energy-efficient models. The amount of support may range from Rs. 12,000 to Rs. 300,000, depending on the number of fans being replaced and the applicant’s eligibility.

Officials confirmed that once new fans are installed, the old units will be rendered unusable to prevent their re-entry into circulation. Applicants will be able to track the status of their request through the portal or app, while payments for the new fans will be made in easy monthly installments added to electricity bills.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Possess a valid national identity card

  • Have a registered electricity connection

  • Ensure that there have been no more than four delayed electricity bill payments in the past two years

Authorities say the initiative is designed not only to reduce household electricity expenses but also to contribute toward addressing Pakistan’s broader energy challenges and environmental sustainability goals.
