Pakistan’s young batting sensation Sameer Minhas is gearing up for his biggest challenge yet as he prepares to represent the country at the ICC Men’s Under-19 World Cup, with a clear mission: help Pakistan lift the trophy.

A Journey Built Through Age-Group Cricket
Sameer’s cricketing journey began at the grassroots level when he represented Multan Region at the Under-13 level during the 2018–19 season. His leadership qualities soon came to the fore as he went on to captain South Punjab Under-13, guiding the side all the way to the final.
His steady rise continued as he progressed to Southern Punjab Under-16, where consistent performances kept him firmly on the selectors’ radar.
Breakthrough at National Level
During the 2020–21 season, Sameer featured in the PCB National Under-16 One-Day Tournament, a phase that proved crucial for his development. His performances earned him selection in the PCB’s elite 100-player development program, designed to groom future international stars.
The real breakthrough came in the National Under-19 Cup, where Sameer amassed over 400 runs in just seven matches, showcasing both consistency and match-winning ability. These performances secured his spot in the Pakistan Under-19 squad.
Asia Cup Final Heroics Against India
Sameer Minhas truly announced himself on the big stage during the ACC Men’s Under-19 Asia Cup final in Dubai. Playing against arch-rivals India, he produced a brilliant match-winning century, leading Pakistan to a commanding 191-run victory.
The innings not only sealed the title for Pakistan but also highlighted Sameer’s ability to perform under pressure in high-stakes matches.
Record-Breaking Form Continues
He carried his momentum into the Zimbabwe tri-series, where he delivered another record-setting innings, further strengthening his importance in the squad ahead of the World Cup.
Reflecting on his performances, Sameer said:
“I just wanted to contribute to the team. After reaching my half-century, I decided to accelerate. Seeing PCB share the record was an incredible feeling. Representing Pakistan and making an impact like that is truly special.”
